Infrared

These photos were shot with a camera which was hard-modded – by removing the standard hot mirror – to be able to capture light in the infrared spectrum. Right now, my infrared cameras are a Sony DSC-F828, whose hot mirror can be temporarily moved out of the way with a magnet from the outside, and a Samsung NX3000, whose hot mirror I permanently removed myself. So far, all of my published infrared photos have been shot with the latter.

These photos are shot by using an infrared-pass-filter, of which I use different ones between 520nm and 950nm. Human perception of light ends at 750nm, so filters with lower frequencies retain some chromatic nuance; everything beyond that is fully monochromatic. Because of way light works in this type of photography, and how heavily every infrared photo needs to be edited in order to end up looking nice, I won’t be including infrared photos in any of the chromatic categories.
